2023-07-20Bluetooth: coredump: fix building with coredump disabledArnd Bergmann
The btmtk driver uses an IS_ENABLED() check to conditionally compile the coredump support, but this fails to build because the hdev->dump member is in an #ifdef: drivers/bluetooth/btmtk.c: In function 'btmtk_process_coredump': drivers/bluetooth/btmtk.c:386:30: error: 'struct hci_dev' has no member named 'dump' 386 | schedule_delayed_work(&hdev->dump.dump_timeout, | ^~ The struct member doesn't really make a huge difference in the total size, so just remove the #ifdef around it to avoid adding similar checks around each user. 2023-07-20Bluetooth: use RCU for hci_conn_params and iterate safely in hci_syncPauli Virtanen
hci_update_accept_list_sync iterates over hdev->pend_le_conns and hdev->pend_le_reports, and waits for controller events in the loop body, without holding hdev lock. Meanwhile, these lists and the items may be modified e.g. by le_scan_cleanup. This can invalidate the list cursor or any other item in the list, resulting to invalid behavior (eg use-after-free). Use RCU for the hci_conn_params action lists. Since the loop bodies in hci_sync block and we cannot use RCU or hdev->lock for the whole loop, copy list items first and then iterate on the copy. Only the flags field is written from elsewhere, so READ_ONCE/WRITE_ONCE should guarantee we read valid values. Free params everywhere with hci_conn_params_free so the cleanup is guaranteed to be done properly. 2023-06-05Bluetooth: ISO: use correct CIS order in Set CIG Parameters eventPauli Virtanen
The order of CIS handle array in Set CIG Parameters response shall match the order of the CIS_ID array in the command (Core v5.3 Vol 4 Part E Sec 7.8.97). We send CIS_IDs mainly in the order of increasing CIS_ID (but with "last" CIS first if it has fixed CIG_ID). In handling of the reply, we currently assume this is also the same as the order of hci_conn in hdev->conn_hash, but that is not true. Match the correct hci_conn to the correct handle by matching them based on the CIG+CIS combination. The CIG+CIS combination shall be unique for ISO_LINK hci_conn at state >= BT_BOUND, which we maintain in hci_le_set_cig_params. 2023-05-19Bluetooth: Fix UAF in hci_conn_hash_flush againRuihan Li
Commit 06149746e720 ("Bluetooth: hci_conn: Add support for linking multiple hcon") reintroduced a previously fixed bug [1] ("KASAN: slab-use-after-free Read in hci_conn_hash_flush"). This bug was originally fixed by commit 5dc7d23e167e ("Bluetooth: hci_conn: Fix possible UAF"). The hci_conn_unlink function was added to avoid invalidating the link traversal caused by successive hci_conn_del operations releasing extra connections. However, currently hci_conn_unlink itself also releases extra connections, resulted in the reintroduced bug. This patch follows a more robust solution for cleaning up all connections, by repeatedly removing the first connection until there are none left. This approach does not rely on the inner workings of hci_conn_del and ensures proper cleanup of all connections. Meanwhile, we need to make sure that hci_conn_del never fails. Indeed it doesn't, as it now always returns zero. To make this a bit clearer, this patch also changes its return type to void. 2023-04-23Bluetooth: Add support for hci devcoredumpAbhishek Pandit-Subedi
Add devcoredump APIs to hci core so that drivers only have to provide the dump skbs instead of managing the synchronization and timeouts. The devcoredump APIs should be used in the following manner: - hci_devcoredump_init is called to allocate the dump. - hci_devcoredump_append is called to append any skbs with dump data OR hci_devcoredump_append_pattern is called to insert a pattern. - hci_devcoredump_complete is called when all dump packets have been sent OR hci_devcoredump_abort is called to indicate an error and cancel an ongoing dump collection. The high level APIs just prepare some skbs with the appropriate data and queue it for the dump to process. Packets part of the crashdump can be intercepted in the driver in interrupt context and forwarded directly to the devcoredump APIs. Internally, there are 5 states for the dump: idle, active, complete, abort and timeout. A devcoredump will only be in active state after it has been initialized. Once active, it accepts data to be appended, patterns to be inserted (i.e. memset) and a completion event or an abort event to generate a devcoredump. The timeout is initialized at the same time the dump is initialized (defaulting to 10s) and will be cleared either when the timeout occurs or the dump is complete or aborted. The patch adds state bits, storage and HCI command chains for sending and receiving Bluetooth Mesh advertising packets, and delivery to requesting user space processes. It specifically creates 4 new MGMT commands and 2 new MGMT events: MGMT_OP_SET_MESH_RECEIVER - Sets passive scan parameters and a list of AD Types which will trigger Mesh Packet Received events MGMT_OP_MESH_READ_FEATURES - Returns information on how many outbound Mesh packets can be simultaneously queued, and what the currently queued handles are. MGMT_OP_MESH_SEND - Command to queue a specific outbound Mesh packet, with the number of times it should be sent, and the BD Addr to use. Discrete advertisments are added to the ADV Instance list. MGMT_OP_MESH_SEND_CANCEL - Command to cancel a prior outbound message request. MGMT_EV_MESH_DEVICE_FOUND - Event to deliver entire received Mesh Advertisement packet, along with timing information. MGMT_EV_MESH_PACKET_CMPLT - Event to indicate that an outbound packet is no longer queued for delivery. hci_abort_conn() is a wrapper around a number of DISCONNECT and CREATE_CONN_CANCEL commands that was being invoked from hci_request request queues, which are now deprecated. There are two versions: hci_abort_conn() which can be invoked from the hci_event thread, and hci_abort_conn_sync() which can be invoked within a hci_sync cmd chain. The bluetooth code uses our bitmap infrastructure for the two bits (!) of connection setup flags, and in the process causes odd problems when it converts between a bitmap and just the regular values of said bits. It's completely pointless to do things like bitmap_to_arr32() to convert a bitmap into a u32. It shoudln't have been a bitmap in the first place. The reason to use bitmaps is if you have arbitrary number of bits you want to manage (not two!), or if you rely on the atomicity guarantees of the bitmap setting and clearing. The code could use an "atomic_t" and use "atomic_or/andnot()" to set and clear the bit values, but considering that it then copies the bitmaps around with "bitmap_to_arr32()" and friends, there clearly cannot be a lot of atomicity requirements. So just use a regular integer. In the process, this avoids the warnings about erroneous use of bitmap_from_u64() which were triggered on 32-bit architectures when conversion from a u64 would access two words (and, surprise, surprise, only one word is needed - and indeed overkill - for a 2-bit bitmap). That was always problematic, but the compiler seems to notice it and warn about the invalid pattern only after commit 0a97953fd221 ("lib: add bitmap_{from,to}_arr64") changed the exact implementation details of 'bitmap_from_u64()', as reported by Sudip Mukherjee and Stephen Rothwell. Set a size limit of 8 bytes of the written buffer to "hdev->name" including the terminating null byte, as the size of "hdev->name" is 8 bytes. If an id value which is greater than 9999 is allocated, then the "snprintf(hdev->name, sizeof(hdev->name), "hci%d", id)" function call would lead to a truncation of the id value in decimal notation. Set an explicit maximum id parameter in the id allocation function call. The id allocation function defines the maximum allocated id value as the maximum id parameter value minus one. When doing remote name request, we cannot scan. In the normal case it's OK since we can expect it to finish within a short amount of time. However, there is a possibility to scan lots of devices that (1) requires Remote Name Resolve (2) is unresponsive to Remote Name Resolve When this happens, we are stuck to do Remote Name Resolve until all is done before continue scanning. This patch adds a time limit to stop us spending too long on remote name request.
